WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FULL-BORE VALVE AND A REDUCED ONE?
The diameter of the passage in the plug of a full bore valve is equal to the nominal diameter of the valve or smaller by no more than 10%.
Reduced valve has a conditional passage of the valve more than 10%. Thus, the throughput of a pipeline system with reduced fittings is slightly lower than with a full-bore one.
It is advisable to install full-bore valves on those sections of the pipeline where it is necessary to minimize the coefficient of hydraulic resistance.
Standard—bore/reduced valves make it possible to reduce the cost of shut-off valves due to small dimensions and, accordingly, fewer consumables. The use of such valves is advisable in those systems in which pressure losses are not critical.
